A Midsummer Nights Dreamland

Summer School 2019

In the summer 2019 we were awarded funding by CFIW and Freeman Evans Trust to enable 89 young people to attend a FREE 5 day bilingual theatre performance summer school at Myddelton College. We had young people from all backgrounds and abilities attend this fantastic course.

Workshops were delivered by Gareth Aled (pictured) the Director of Puppetry for the National Theatre's Warhorse, Kaitlin Howard Stage Combat Director, Sean Jones West End Actor, Christine Parle West End Actor, Huw Davies Award winning maker and practioner, Tracy Spencer West End Actor, Sarah Davies Voice Tutor and Sarah Evans Urdang Grad.

Sessions started at 8.30am for working parents and finished at 5.30pm. We tackled holiday hunger by making sure everyone received a full packed lunch and we ate together in the great hall.

Over the five days we danced, sang, learnt puppetry, played instruments, performed Shakespeare, recited poetry from Twm Or Nant, acted, performed stage combat, devised an interactive performance, made new friends and laughed a lot... We devised a performance which the whole community attended.
