Our Summer Schools

Browse some of our past summer schools hosted by The Denbigh Workshop. These creative art activates are fully funded for disadvantaged young people to attend.

This years fully funded summer school is funded by The Neumark Foundation £11,000 and the Denbighshire Leisure Grant £10,000 at St. Brigid's School in Denbigh focused on the 5 Elements Fire, Air, Water, Earth and You.

In the summer 2018 we secured funding from the Denbigh Town Council, Freeman Evans Trust, Denbigh Rotary, DVSC Youth Fund, Welsh Church Act Fund and Denbigh Chocolate Shop to provide our summer school a week of workshops on the theme of A Cabaret of Chaos celebrating our differences with 50 young people at the Hwb Denbigh.

In the summer 2019 we were awarded funding by CFIW and Freeman Evans Trust to enable 89 young people to attend a FREE 5 day bilingual theatre performance summer school at Myddelton College. We had young people from all backgrounds and abilities attend this fantastic course.

We worked with 50 young people, 3 professional actors and a local willow artist Huw Davies over a whole week to devise and create a community performance which took place at Denbigh Castle and was featured on Heno on S4C.

The 45 minute workshop is performed by two professional actors and delivered to Year 12 & 13 students and is very hard hitting. Supported by local families who have witnessed the devastation of losing a young person in a fatal RTC first-hand.

Volunteering for the Denbigh Workshop couldn’t be easier, with your enthusiasm, skills and time we can make a difference to the people we work with through the creative arts. We're looking for volunteers with admin skills or experience of working with children. If you have an interest in the Arts and making a difference in your community, get in touch to see how you can help this local charity.
