Girls Can Do It

A year long empowerment project with young women

Girls Can Do It funded by £10000 grant from the Tampon Tax from CFIW, was delivered by two actor/facilitators for an initial intensive 4 days with up to 10 young women considered vulnerable or at risk in each session.

Using our drama backgrounds and skills gained from training with Hafan Cymru on their Safe and Sound project, we aim to educate and empower young women to have safe and healthy relationships and improve their own mental health and build resilience.

Drama at it’s very heart requires people to work effectively with each other. The workshops develop social interactions and develop social skills and allow participants to creatively engage in a safe environment.

Role-playing interview techniques and learning new skills in team building and communication, we aim to increase employability for these young women, increase aspirations and widen horizons.

Due to Coronavirus we adapted to an online course for delivery in July, August, October, November, December 2020 and January 2021.

40 young women have completed the course to date.
